A session is one block of camp that families register for, such as “Week 1” or “First Session”. Everything else in CampRunner hangs off it: pricing, the registration window, rosters and bunks.

Start a session

  1. On your dashboard, select Create session on the setup checklist. You can also open the session picker at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Manage sessions.
  2. Under Session basics, give the session a name families will recognize, pick a category if you use them, and choose Day or Overnight.
  3. Add start and end dates if you know them. You can leave them blank and come back later.
  4. Under Capacity & fees, set how many campers the session can take and the session fee. Turn on Auto-accept from waitlist if you want open spots filled for you.
  5. Choose the registration form families will fill in, and set registration dates if you are ready to take sign-ups.
  6. Finish the wizard. CampRunner takes you back to the dashboard and the step is ticked.

Day or overnight

Pick the format that matches how the session runs, because it decides how attendance works from the first day. A day session asks which weekdays it runs. An overnight session runs every day between its start and end dates, apart from any closed dates you add.

Change it later

Open Settings, then the Session tab, with the session selected in the sidebar picker. That is where you edit the name, dates, capacity, waitlist and communications for a session after it exists.

Good to know

  • Start and end dates are optional when you create the session. Add them later from Settings, Session.
  • A day session runs Monday to Friday unless you change its run days. An overnight session runs every day from start to end.
  • Registration dates only take effect once Stripe is connected and a card is saved for your CampRunner bill. Skip them for now if you have not done those steps.
  • You can create as many sessions as you run in a season. Each one has its own capacity, pricing and registration window.
