Card and bank transfer fees

Every online payment goes through Stripe, and Stripe charges a processing fee on it. You decide whether your camp absorbs that fee or adds it to what the family pays.

Choose how families can pay

Open Finance, then Settings, and go to Payment Processing.

  • Accept credit & debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Stripe’s typical fee is 2.9% plus 30 cents per payment.
  • Accept ACH bank transfers: families pay straight from a bank account. Stripe’s typical fee is 0.8%, capped at $5, and payments settle in 3 to 5 business days.

Your actual rates are whatever your Stripe account is priced at.

Pass the fee on

Turn on Charge parents a processing fee on card payments, or the same switch for bank payments, to add the fee on top of each payment. It applies to registration payments, scheduled payments and balance payments, and shows as its own line at checkout and on receipts, so families can see exactly what it is.

Leave the switches off and your camp absorbs the fee: families pay the tuition amount and Stripe takes its fee from what reaches your bank.

Good to know

  • Processing fees are Stripe's, not CampRunner's. CampRunner takes no cut of tuition.
  • Bank transfers usually cost less than cards but take a few business days to settle.
  • You can waive the passed-on fee for an individual camper from their record.
